Back in 2016, Joey looked at some of the top cool gadgets on the horizon. His list included a high-tech jellyfish aquarium, robotic finger, multi-room audio system, flying robot, and smart scent dispenser.
Well, here we are in 2020, and I thought it would be fun to update the list, and highlight some interesting and futuristic gadgets that we might be using in our homes and workplaces in the near future.
Auto-Rotating 4K Touchscreen Monitor
Many IT pros have two monitors on their desk — and some have three or more (as evidenced a couple of years ago when we asked members of our community to send in a photo of their workstation!). But what if you need to move around and still stay productive and connected? That’s when you need a cool auto-rotating 4K touchscreen monitor (called “the Sculptor”). Basically, it turns your monitor into a tablet you can view in either portrait or landscape orientation. It also works with smartphones, transforming your iPhone or Android into a mobile workstation.
Glow Headphones
If you love music, then you’ll love glow headphones. These earbuds are built with specially designed wires that diffuse light from a laser, which then pulse to the sound of your favorite music. The gadget also comes with a remote, which allows you to control multiple functions, including media playback (Spotify, Google Music, etc.), phone calls, voice assistants (e.g. Siri, Google Now, etc.), camera shutter, and text messages. It also makes a perfect gift for the audiophiles on your list.
LEROU
After a stressful day at work — maybe one of your colleagues keeps stealing your snacks— don’t you wish that you could lie back, close your eyes, and have a robot give you a delightful finger simulated head massage? Of course you do. And that’s exactly what LEROU does. It looks kind of like a futuristic headband, and it helps you enjoy better health and more restful sleep.
Sleep Rock
Speaking of sleep: researchers have found that our cave-dwelling ancestors used to sleep with a weapon in their hand — because they never knew when a hungry saber-toothed tiger would stop by for a visit. Well, we don’t have to worry about that anymore. But apparently, we still crave the feeling of holding something in our hand when we sleep. That’s where sleep rock comes to the rescue. It has an internal regulated heating element that provides a warm feel, and it is built with a smooth stone texture to enhance faster, deeper, and more restful sleep. Doesn’t that sound pleasant?
Keyhub
Keyhub advertises itself as “the ultra-smart all-in-one keyboard hub for the ultimate work and gaming experience.” That’s quite a promise, but it looks like Keyhub delivers. It uses a USB-C data port and USB-C PD charging port (compatible with 18w-100w charging) and features three USB-A 3.0 and one USB-A 2.0 interfaces for data transmission. Plus, the USB 3.0 is downward compatible with all USB-A 3.0 and 2.0 products (e.g. hard drives, 2.4G wireless mouse dongle, etc.). Keyhub was designed for Apple users, but it also works for Windows and Android.
TOWNEW
Taking out the garbage is messy, stinky and something we all hate. That’s why we all need a next-generation garbage container like TOWNEW. Here’s how it works: when you’re ready to take out the garbage, you press a button on the TOWNEW, and it automatically seals the garbage bag inside. Once sealed, you can take the bag to the curb, bin, or wherever it’s supposed to go, without worrying about leaks, messes, or smells.
MONSTER X
What’s better than having a little power to charge and run all of your devices? Having A LOT of power! And that’s what MONSTER X delivers. The powerful battery provides up to 2,000W of power output, and packs a massive 1,300W capacity. It features 4x fast-charging USB ports, 2x 60W PD USB-C ports plus 4x wall outlets (US or Intl). It also comes with a lifetime battery warranty. The good news is that you’ll probably never be out of power again. The bad news is that if you’re using this remotely (like at a coffee shop or airport), then everyone around you who needs power but can’t find an available outlet is going to want to be your best friend.
