Yesterday, we began our look back at some of the most notable and fun things that happened at Devolutions in 2019 from January-June. Today, we’ll continue our review with a focus on July-December.
July
In July, the temperature was sizzling outside, but that didn’t slow us down! On the product front, we announced the availability of Remote Desktop Manager Jump for Mac. Also, since educating our community is a big part of our focus, we released a white paper highlighting the key problems that SMBs face in securing privileged access, and we published an article about how robust IT security has come to the cloud.
We wrapped up July with some fun stuff — like our Game of Thrones quiz and Derick’s lovely “Ode to Sysadmins”. Plus, we celebrated the 1000th post from one of our favorite community members and VIP power users, Min Destens!
August
In August, we proudly welcomed a new member to the Devolutions product family: our free 2FA companion tool Devolutions Authenticator. We also published the Devolutions Product Saga, which followed a fictitious sysadmin on his journey across the Devolutions’ product galaxy — starting with Remote Desktop Manager Free, and ending (for now!) with Devolutions Password Hub.
To help you enhance security in your organization, we looked at Gartner’s top 10 security projects for 2019, as well as the top 3 information security risks to know about in 2019.
We also had a lot of fun with our August poll, which asked you to share your favorite IT hacks.
September
In September, we buried our very own time capsule so that future generations could get a glimpse of life in Devolutions Land in the “old days”.
We also announced an upgrade to the Security Lock feature in Remote Desktop Manager, added session recording to Wayk Now, and featured the case study of one of our most valued community members and VIP power users who has been with us since the very early days, Francois Fournier!
For fun, we shared 5 IT-related podcasts that we love.
October
October is when kids around here head out on Halloween and ask people for a “trick or treat”. Well, here at Devolutions we were all about TREATS, because we had two big announcements. The first was the official release of our new secure, easy-to-use cloud-based password management solution for teams: Devolutions Password Hub. The second was that after so much hard work by Patrick, the much-anticipated animated short “Vault” finally arrived! (What’s the password again?)
To mark Cybersecurity Awareness Month, we looked at cybersecurity certifications, cybersecurity training platforms, and cybersecurity tips to teach your kids.
November
November is when folks start thinking about the presents they’ll give to their family and friends. Well, we received an early gift by being named to Deloitte’s 2019 Technology Fast 500 list. Plus, our PAM solutions were featured in a new report by KuppingerCole Analysts.
Product-wise, we introduced the new Devolutions Password Hub Desktop App and released Remote Desktop Manager Enterprise 2019.2.
December
In December, we eagerly anticipated Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. But this didn’t distract us from getting a lot of stuff done, including announcing our MongoDB CWAL Rust driver project, sharing tips to make your home Wi-Fi network more secure, publishing (in conjunction with KuppingerCole Analysts) a new white paper about privileged access requirements for SMBs, and asking for your advice on whether we should retire the 32-bit version of Remote Desktop Manager
On the fun side, we recommended some great holiday movies and, as per tradition, we gathered in our ugly Christmas sweaters for a group photo.
Thank You!
Without your support and loyalty, there would be no Year in Review. We would like to thank you for making 2019 our best year ever, and for inspiring us to raise the bar in 2020. We hope that you continue to have a happy holiday season, and we look forward to connecting with you in the year ahead — the best is yet to come!
