Whether they are crafting instruction manuals, how-to guides, process flowcharts — and the list goes on — great technical writers make the difference between understanding critical and complex information vs. scratching your head and going, “What on earth does this mean!?!”
Today, I’m delighted to introduce you to a truly great technical writer who has joined the Devolutions family: please give a warm welcome to Christine Breault!
I recently had the opportunity to chat with Christine, and to learn more about her background, her role here at Devolutions, and what she enjoys doing when she’s not working on an important technical writing project. Here is a look at our conversation:
Can you tell me a bit about your background?
My academic background includes a mix of training in electronics and artistry. I’ve always been interested in creativity and technology. Since leaving school, I’ve worked in many tech-related industries and on a variety of solutions, including automated banking machines (ABM), lottery vending machines and telecommunication services.
What would you say is your biggest achievement?
What I’m most proud of is that, after many years of thinking that my creative work wasn’t worth showing anyone, I jumped into the digital world and started posting online. At the same time, I learned a great deal about website building, SEO, analytics, and the thriving digital community.
What was it about Devolutions that made you want to work here?
Devolutions promotes professional growth for all of its employees, which is very important to me. The company is also heavily involved in the community and has a very caring and supportive culture and reputation.
What would you say are your top three strengths at work?
At my core I’m logical, efficient and team oriented.
What tasks do you carry out in your job, and what are some of the tools you use?
As a technical writer, I keep myself informed of all the latest developments with our products, so that I can quickly update our online help documentation. For tools, we use Help and Manual to write help guides, as well as Azure DevOps Documentation services to publish them for the Devolutions community.
What is your impression of working here?
Devolutions is an employer that nurtures its environment and employees with a vision of growth and development.
What goals would you like to achieve at Devolutions?
I want to become an asset and a reliable source of knowledge for all of the company’s products, while continuing to develop my professional abilities.
On a personal note, what are some of your hobbies and interests?
I’m a creative person, and I love to explore all media such as inks, watercolors, markers, digital drawing interfaces, and even short story writing. I also read all the time, and I’m interested in puzzle games.
