Hey everyone,

One of the best things about my job is that I regularly get to meet new professionals who are smart, nice and interesting. And I’m not just referring to our amazing global community of IT pros. I’m also talking about wonderful new colleagues, such as the star of today’s employee spotlight: please give a big round of applause to Philippe Audet, our newest Support Specialist!

In between games of The Legend of Zelda Clue, I chatted with Philippe to learn more about his work and personality. Here’s a snapshot of our conversation:

Can you tell me a bit about your background?

Since I was about 10 years old, I’ve been interested in different technologies, especially computers and video games. I taught myself how to code, and started making games with different editors and engines. That led me to study computer science at Champlain Regional College in St-Lambert, after which I was hired by an international game development company. For several years I tested games, and then I moved onto development for a few more years. From there, I joined a software testing company, where I tested multiple IT applications, services, scripts, and I also programmed automated tests. And throughout these experiences, I’ve always coded a few things on my own, including a game, a map editing tool, and two small websites; one of which interacted with an SQL database.

What would you say is your biggest achievement so far?

Taking part in creating video games, applications and scripts that are loved and appreciated around the world.

What was it about Devolutions that made you want to work here?

Everything! The job, the flexibility, the environment, the people, the compensation, and all of the nice extras like an arcade room, free breakfast and a whole lot more.

What would you say are your top three strengths at work?

I’d say that I’m helpful, resourceful, and knowledgeable. I aim to use my knowledge and the resources available to me to improve products and satisfy our community.

What tasks do you carry out in your job, and what are some of the tools that you use?

I code scripts and programs, and configure applications to automate different tasks like building code and deploying environments. Currently, I’m focused on developing an SDK that will soon be available for our users to interact with their DVLS server using simplified code. As for tools, I use PyCharm, ISE and Visual Studio for coding Python, PowerShell and C#, Fiddler to spy on web traffic, Jenkins and batch files to automate different tasks, Slack to communicate by chat, Notepad++, etc.

What are your impressions about working here?

I love it, and feel that I’ve been here for years. I wish that I had discovered this company a long time ago!

What goals would you like to achieve at Devolutions?

I’d like to create something valuable for our users, learn new things, code different programs and scripts, and support my great team.

On a personal note, what are some of your hobbies and interests?

I have many, including creating all aspects of my own games: coding, drawing, modeling, placing objects, scripting, writing the story, creating the characters, the environments, etc.  I also like working out, watching movies, listening to music, playing video games, going out with my girlfriend, and spending time with my kids and family.

Please share a few words with our community of IT pros:

I’m proud to be part of an extremely talented and hard-working team here at Devolutions. Here, we do everything to meet your expectations. Don’t hesitate to contact us and tell us what you need us to add, improve or fix. It would be an honor to help make your requests come true!
